My second trip to the city this year was a longer one, and it won’t be the last either. This one lasted for four nights. We stayed in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on Chauncey Street, two blocks from the Chauncey Street J/Z subway station and we couldn’t have found a better place to stay. This trip made me truly appreciate New York. Staying in one of the outer boroughs really opened my eyes to what I think is the true New York City. Most of the time, people visiting New York only see Manhattan, and they don’t see the rest of the city. Manhattan definitely has its character, don’t get me wrong, but I staying in Brooklyn showed me a lot more.
It also made me realize that New York is a lot more accessible than I thought. When we left, I drove through Manhattan for the first time. We took the Williamsburg bridge, went through Manhattan, and took the Lincoln Tunnel to start our journey home. I was a little nervous at first, but then I realized it really wasn’t that bad. It was actually fun. I really love this city and I never thought I would like this much. I cannot wait to go again in June.
